Answer: -6/7 or -0.87

Explanation:

slope (m) = rise/run = (y2 - y1)/(x2-x1)

in the problem your values are: x1 = -3, x2 = 4, y1 = 2, y2 = -4)

substitute the values;

m = (-4-2)/(4-(-3)) = (-6)/(7) or -0.87
note: if m is negative the line is inclined downwards to the right.

Answer:

slope m = -
(6)/(7)

Explanation:

calculate the slope m, using the slope formula

m =
(y_(2)-y_(1) )/(x_(2)-x_(1) )

let (x₁, y₁ ) = (- 3, 2 ) and (x₂, y₂ ) = (4, - 4 )

substitute these values into the formula for m

m =
(-4-2)/(4-(-3)) =
(-6)/(4+3) = -
(6)/(7)
