The distance from the enterprise to Springfield is 8.66 miles and not 16 miles.

Assuming the triangle to be a right-angled triangle, we can apply the Pythagoras theorem. So,

a^2+b^2=c^2

a^2+5^2=10^2

a^2=100-25

a^2=75

a=√(75)

a=
5√(3)

a=8.66miles

So, the distance from the enterprise to Springfield is 8.66 miles and not 16 miles.
