A PC company in Malaysia sold a new laptop model with 500 units to UTeM students, 300 units to engineers in Melaka, and 400 units to the general public. Estimate the probability that a new unit, which has just been sold, belongs to:

a. An engineering worker in Flextronic, Melaka
b. A student in FTMK with matric no B0131200075.

A. The probability that a new unit which has just been sold belongs to an engineering worker in Flextronic, Melaka is 0.2308

B. The probability that a new unit which has just been sold belongs student in FTMK with matric no B0131200075 is 0.3846

How to determine the probability?

Given;

500 units sold to UTem Student Sold to public people

300 units 400 units Sold to engineers in Melaka

Total number of units Sold = 1300

a) The likelihood of selling a new unit to an engineer worker in Melaka is calculated as 300 units out of a total of 1300 units sold, yielding a probability of
\( (300)/(1300) = (3)/(13) \approx 0.2308 \).

b) The probability of selling a new unit to a student in UTeM is determined by the sale of 500 units out of the total 1300 units sold, resulting in a probability of
\( (500)/(1300) = (5)/(13) \approx 0.3846 \)
