A plane is flying at a steady speed of 30000m/minute.

(30,000)/(1) =\frac{2,000}x}

The numerator is the distance and the denominator is the time.

I used cross multiplication, the numerator of one fraction times the denominator of the other.


30,000*x=2,000*1\\30,000x=2,000

divide both sides by 30,000 and simplify


x=(2,000)/(30,000) \\x=(2)/(30)

Then multiply the fractions by 2/2 (basically multiplying the numerator and the denominator each by 2)


x=(4)/(60)

Since the denominator is 60, the number of seconds in a minute, the numerator is the answer
