The scale on a map is stated as

1/200 000

A main road connects two towns which are 28 kilometres apart.

How far will it be on the map, in centimetres, between the two towns along the main road?

Answer:

2,800,000 Centimeters.

Explanation:

Multiply by 100,000. (works for any kilometers to centimeters conversion. For example, 2 kilometers is 200,000 centimeters. *2 x 100,000*)
