x=11 please correct me if i'm wrong. I hope I helped.

Explanation:

2x-5=8

add 2 to both sides

so the 2 on the left cancels out, and now on the right it is 6

now add 5 to both sides, so x is by its self and on the right of the equation sign it is 11

so x=11
