Answer:

5 and 9

Explanation:

3(x+y) = 42

5(x-y) = 20

3/3 (x+y) = 42/3

5/5 (x-y) = 20/5


x+y = 14

x-y = 4


x-x = 0

y-(-y) = y+y = 2y

14-4 = 10


2y = 10

2/2 y = 10/2

y = 5


x-5 = 4

x = 4 + 5

x = 9
