Activity 12: Using Conjunctions
You have just read a short essay about drive-in movies.
• Think about your experience with movies. What type of theaters have you gone to? Do you mainly watch them at home or at the theater? Who is with you when
you watch a movie - family or friends? What type of movies do you like best? Has any of this changed as you have gotten older?
Use the Text Editor to write a short essay about your experience with movies. It can be a personal essay about the movies you've seen. It can be a descriptive
essay about the theaters you have been to-what they're like. It can also be an evaluative essay in which you give your opinion about different movies or theaters
and which are best.
• As you write, use as many conjunctions as possible. Refer to the charts on the previous pages to help you remember them.
• When you are finished, make a list of all the conjunctions you used. If you don't have at least 10, rewrite some of the sentences so you will have more.
• Remember that if you do not save your document, it will not be available to you later. If you save your work on this computer, it will only be available on this
computer.

Amelia's antique store held treasures of forgotten tales. One peculiar item, an ornate mirror, beckoned her. As she gazed, whispers echoed, revealing glimpses of lives lived within its reflective depths. Curiosity consumed her, and one day, she touched its surface. Instantly, she found herself in a bustling 1920s jazz club.

Shock turned to fascination as she danced among flapper dresses and the jazzy rhythm. The mirror became a portal to bygone eras, offering Amelia timeless adventures. Each return brought stories untold. The antique store, once a mere shop, became a gateway to history, and Amelia, its unwitting time-traveling custodian.
