Authoritarian parenting is when the parent establishes strict and non-negotiable rules with which the child must follow. (For this prompt—it’s likely that they would punish the child in some way, like grounding them.)

Authoritative parenting focuses more on close relationships and having clear guidelines with the child, offering ways of support rather than punishment. (Probably reason with the child why they need to do their chores, and then offer something fun or rewarding to them once the chores are completed.)

Permissive parenting is much more lax than both of those styles, commonly referred to as “having a friend instead of a parent.” (The parent might just be alright with them not doing it and do it themselves.)

Uninvolved or neglectful parenting is where the child is given a lot of freedom–left to their own devices–with no rules or structure to help guide them. This also includes things like affection or affirmation. (The parent might not ask them to do the chores at all.)

I hope this is helpful. I did my AP seminar IMP on this topic ;)
