One endpoint is at the origin (0,0)

The other endpoint can be placed at (1,3)

If we applied the distance formula on these two points, then,

d = √((x_1 - x_2)^2 + (y_1 - y_2)^2)\\\\d = √((0-1)^2 + (0-3)^2)\\\\d = √((-1)^2 + (-3)^2)\\\\d = √(1 + 9)\\\\d = √(10)\\\\d \approx 3.16227766\\\\

Showing that the exact distance between the endpoints is
√(10) units, which is the length of the segment.
