x - y= 2...........equation 2

Using elimination method

x + y= 24

2x = 26

x = 26/2

Sub 13 for x in equation 1

x + y= 24

13 + y = 24

y = 24-13

y = 11

Hence the current and speed of the boat when there were no current are 11 and 13 respectively
