A recipe for homemade clay calls for 6 cups of water for every 12 cups of flour. How many cups of water are needed when 4 cups of flour are used?

Explanation:

The original ratio is 6:12

That could be looked at as divided by half. OR, you can look at it as 12/3 is 4

So 4/2 is 2, and for the second method I provided... 6/3 is 2
