Solve the following quadratic equation by finding the value of x:

x^2 + 8x + 7= 0

use the quadratic formula: (-b±√(b²-4ac))/(2a)

a=1
b=8
c=7

(-8±√(8²-4x1x7))/(2x1)

x= -1
x= -7
