Answer:

y=3x-7

Explanation:

So first you need to find the slope by subtracting the x's and y's. The x's come first in the parentheses. You can set that up like this:

2 -1

4 5

Then you can subtract

5--1=6

subtracting a negative from a positive is almost like adding.

4-2=2

so then put your y on top like this:

6/2

Then you need to use point slope. Point slope is set up like this:

y-y cord=slope(x-xcord)

So just fill it in.

y-5=6/2(x-4)

(just pick a random point)

so then simplify the slope by dividing the fraction

6/2=3

then solve the equation

y-5=3(x-4)

Distribute!

3x-4=-12

y-5=-12

+5 +5

y=-7

There's your y intercept!

Then fill in the form for slope-intercept.

y=slope x + y intercept.

y=3x-7
