given perimeter = 35 , then

4x + 2x + 7 + 8x = 35 ( simplify left side )

14x + 7 = 35 ( subtract 7 from both sides )

14x = 28 ( divide both sides by 14 )

x = 2

the longest side is 8x , then

8x = 8 × 2 = 16
