AC = 5 cm

Explanation:

If we draw a segment fro C to AB at right angles, then we have a right triangle with legs 3 cm ( vertical height ) , 4 cm ( horizontal ) and hypotenuse , AC

using Pythagoras' theorem in this right triangle

c² = a² + b²

a, b are the legs and c is the hypotenuse , then with a = 3 and b = 4

AC² = 3² + 4² = 9 + 16 = 25 ( take square root of both sides )


√(AC^2) =
√(25)

AC = 5 cm
