Answer (assuming it can be written in slope-intercept form):

y = -x -7

Explanation:

1) First, find the slope of the line x + y = 1. Isolate the y to put it in slope-intercept form:

x + y = 1 \\y = -x + 1

Remember that the coefficient of the x-term in equations written in slope-intercept form is the slope. Thus, the slope of x + y = 1 is -1.

Lines that are parallel have the same slope, thus -1 must be the slope of the answer, too.

2) Now that we know a point and a slope of the line, we can use point-slope formula, or
y-y_1 = m (x-x_1) and place in the found values, then transfer it to slope-intercept form. Replace
m for -1 since it represents the slope, and replace
x_1 and
y_1 for -7 and 0 since they represent the x and y values of a point the line intersects. Then, isolate the y to put it in slope-intercept form:

y - (0) = -1 (x - (-7))\\y = -1(x + 7)\\y = -x -7

Thus, the answer is
y = -x -7.
