9. Sam shaved his head down to ½” for a swim meet. If his hair grows continuously at a rate of one-quarter of an inch per month, find the length of his hair after a year.

12 • 1/4 = 3 inches. Does that help?

The length of his hair after one month is 10

Using the continuous growth rate formula :

  • A= Pe^(rt)
  • P = 1/2 = 0.5 ; r = 1/4 = 0.25

Plugging into our equation:

A= 0.5 × e^(0.25 * 12)

A= 0.5 × e^(3)

A= 0.5 × e^(3)

A = 10.0427684616

The length of his hair after one month is 10
