A coffee distributor needs to mix a(n) Costa Rican coffee blend that normally sells for $9.60 per

pound with a Ethiopian coffee blend that normally sells for $11.80 per pound to create 20 pounds of
a coffee that can sell for $11.25 per pound. How many pounds of each kind of coffee should they

Answer:

Cost Rican = 5 pounds ; Ethiopian = 15 pounds

Explanation:

c + e = 20

9.60c + 11.80e = 20 * 11.25

c = 20 - e

9.60(20-e) + 11.80e = 225

192 - 9.60e + 11.80e = 225

2.20e = 225-192

2.20e = 33

2.20 / 2.20 e = 33/2.20

e = 15 pounds

c = 20 - 15

c = 5 pounds
