In similar triangles ΔSTU and ΔPLM, with given sides, solving the proportion x + 1/72 = (2x - 3)/99 yields x = 7.

We are given ΔSTU ~ ΔPLM and we are supposed to find the value of x when ML = 99 MP = 70 , LP= 72, TS = x + 1 and UT = 2x - 3.

As we are given that the two triangles are similar so the sides are going to be equal too.

So ,

ST /PL = TU / LM

x + 1/ 72 = 2x - 3 / 99

cross multiplying

99x + 99 = 144x - 216

Now ,

99x - 144x = -216 - 99

-45x = -315

x = 7

So , the value of x is 7.
