you distribute both 5s into the problem. one side will be negative 5x minus 2 becomes 10 because negative times a positive is a negative. you're multiply negative 5 times 2 bring down the plus sign. the second part is positive 5x minus 5 which becomes 5x minus 25. you multiply positive 5 times 5 to get that answer for the second part. you combine like terms. positive 5x and negative 5x cancels out to become x-10=-25. add 10 on both sides and x=-15
