Solution

We can clear fractions by multiplying both sides by 16:

3 +2y ≥ 13

2y ≥ 10 . . . . . . . subtract 3

y ≥ 5 . . . . . . . . . divide by 2

The solution to the inequality is y ≥ 5.

Graph

The graph is created by plotting the boundary point on a numberline. The solution tells you that values of y that are 5 or more will be included, so the number line is shaded to the right of the boundary point.

The point is a solid circle, since the value y=5 is included in the solution set.
