Let the area of the mint section = Length * Width

Given

Area = 6x²-2x

Length

Required

Width

A = LW

Substitute

6x²-2x = 2x(W)

2x(3x-1) = 2xW

Divide both sides by 2x

2x(3x-1)/2x = 2xW/2x

3x-1 = W

W = 3x-1

Hence the width of the mint section is 3x-1
