Does anyone know what the answer to this is?

Both polygons are similar. The figure on the left was reduced to create the polygon on the right. What is the scale factor? Find the lengths of the missing sides.

Answer is scale factor of 2/3

Side X = 9 ft
Side Y = 8 ft
Side Z = 3.8 ft

Step by step

We find scale factor by dividing like sides of image by pre image. I used side 4 / side 6 for answer of 2/3

Now we can find missing sides by using
Pre image side x 2/3 = image

Find Pre image side “X”

“X” x 2/3 = 6
divide both sides by 2/3

“X” = 6 ÷ 2/3 (flip fraction and multiply)
“X” = 6 x 3/2
“X” = 9

Find Image side Y

12 x 2/3 = Y
Y = 8

Find Image side Z

5.7 x 2/3 = Z

Z = 3.8
