Explanation:

You have to use the Angle Bisector Theorem to get a ratio.

12/x=27/(x+5)

cross multiply

12(x+5)=27x

12x+60=27x

60=27x-12x

60=15x

60÷15=x

x=4

BD=x+x+5=4+4+5=13
