The linear inequality plotted has the equation y > 1/2 x - 2

How to write the equation

The equation is written by finding the slope (m) and the y-intercept (c). This will help us in writing the equation in slope intercept form

y =mx + c

the slope, m is calculated using the points on the graph (0, 2) and (4, 0)

m = (y₀ - y₁) / (x₀ - x₁)

m = (2 - 0) / (0 - 4)

m = (2) / (-4)

m = -1/2

From the graph, c = -2, hence the equation is y = -1/2 x - 2

In inequality form , we have

y > 1/2 x - 2
