The linear equation that models the given table is y = 6x + 2

How to find the linear equation?

Here we have the table:

x y

0 2

1 8

2 14

3 20

4 26

Remember that a general linear equation is written as:

y = ax + b

Where a is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

For the first pair (0, 2), we know that the y-intercept is b = 2, then we can write:

y = ax + 2

Now we can replace any other pair in the table in the values of x and y, if we use the second pair (1, 8) we will get:

8 = a*1 + 2

8 - 2 = a

6 = a

The linear equation is y = 6x + 2
