There are several ways to approach this problem.

I'm doing adding two rectangles' areas after cutting a shape "method"

Divide the shape with a line that forms two different rectangles: 60x13 dimensions of a larger rectangle and 25x(25-13) dimensions, which is 25x12 dimensions of a smaller rectangle.

Now, find the areas of both rectangles:

A = lw + lw

= (60 times 13) + (25 times 12)

= 780 + 300 = ?

Answer:

1,080 sq ft

Explanation:

shape can be broken into a 25 ft x 25 ft square and a 35 ft x 13 ft rectangle

(you get 35 by taking the difference of 60 and 25)

25 x 25 = 625

35 x 13 = 455

total = 1,080
