The area of the figure is 70.3 to the nearest 10th place.

Finding the area of a rectangle and the the area of a semicircle.

The area of the rectangle is the multiplication of the length of the rectangle by the width of the rectangle. In the given diagram, the length = 16, and the width = 4

Area of the rectangle = 16 × 4

Area of the rectangle = 64

The area of the semicircle refers to half of the area of the circle;

Area of semicircle =
(1)/(2)\pi r^2

  • where; the radius = d/2 = 4/2 = 2

Area of semicircle =
(1)/(2)* 3.142 * 2^2

Area of semicircle = 6.3

The area of the figure = area of rectangle + area of semicircle.

The area of the figure = 64 + 6.3

The area of the figure = 70.3
