The values of x and y are 2 and 3 respectively .

Using the system of equation given:

  • 2x + 5y = 19 __(1)
  • y = 3x - 3 ___(2)

substitute (2) into (1)

2x + 5(3x - 3) = 19

2x + 15x - 15 = 19

17x = 34

x = 2

From (2)

y = 3(2) - 3

y = 6 - 3

y = 3

Hence, x and y are 2 and 3 respectively.
