Explanation:

First find the area of the given rectangle. Use the formula
area = length * width = 27 * 12 = 324
So the rectangle has an area of 324m²
We are looking for the side a square of the same area. At a square, length and width are the same.
So the area = length * length => area = length²
=> 324m² = length²
to get the length, take the squareroot of both sides. Then you see
18 = length
A square of the same area as the rectangle has sides of 18 meters length.
