The second plan has an initial fee of $75 and costs an additional $0.70 per mile driven. How many miles would Ivan need to drive for the two plans to cost the same?

Let us assume the miles be x

So for the first plan, the equation is

= $0.90x

And for the second plan, the equation is

= $75 + $0.70x

Now equate this

0.90x = $75 + 0.70x

0.90x - 0.70x = $75

0.20x = $75

x = $75 ÷ 0.20

= 375 miles

Now the same cost would be

For plan A and plan B

0.90x = $75 + 0.70x

0.90(375) = $75 + 0.70(375)
