The area of the rectangle marked A is 56 cm²

We can find the length of A thus :

  • Area of rectangle = length × width

14 = 2 × length

length = 14/2

length = 7 cm

Dimension of entire square = 7 + 3 = 10 cm

The dimension of the square is 10 cm by 10 cm.

Width of rectangle A :

  • 10 - 2 = 8cm

Therefore , the area of rectangle A is :

  • length × width

Area of A = 8cm × 7cm = 56 cm²

Therefore, the area of rectangle A is 56 cm²
