Line a passes through (1, 4). Constant of proportionality = 4. Line a passes through (5, 2). Constant of proportionality = 2/5

What is constant or proportionality of a line?

The constant or proportionality of a line in respect to x and y is represented by the slope, which signifies the rate of change of y with respect to x, that is, the ratio of y to x (y/x).

In line a, it passes through point (1, 4), thus, we have:

constant of proportionality = y/x = 4/1

constant of proportionality = 4

In line a, it passes through point (5, 2), thus, we have:

constant of proportionality = y/x = 2/5

constant of proportionality = 2/5.
