For the given graph:

the domain is (0, 4]

the range is [-4, 1)

How to find the domain and range?

First remember that:

  • Closed circle: means that the value belongs.
  • Open circle: means that the value does not belong.

The domain is the set of possible inputs, so we need to look at the horizontal axis.

The leftmost value is at x = 0, with an open circle.

The rightmost value is at x = 4, with a closed circle.

So the domain is (0, 4]

For the range we look at the vertical axis.

The lowest value is at y = -4, with a closed circle.

The uper value is at y = 1, with an open circle,

Then the range is [-4, 1)
