The total surface area of the cylinder is 659.4 mm².

How to find the total surface area of a cylinder?

The diagram above is a cylinder. The total surface area of the cylinder can be found as follows;

Therefore,

total surface area of the cylinder = 2πr(r + h)

total surface area of the cylinder = 2πr² + 2πrh

where

  • r = radius of the cylinder
  • h = height of the cylinder

Therefore,

2πr² = 2(25π) = 50π mm²

total surface area of the cylinder = 50π + 2 × 16πr

25π = πr²

r = 5 mm

total surface area of the cylinder = 50π + 2 × 16 × 5πr

total surface area of the cylinder = 50π + 160π

total surface area of the cylinder = 210π

total surface area of the cylinder = 210 × 3.14

total surface area of the cylinder = 659.4 mm²
