The probability that a student, chosen at random, studies Biology or Physics or both is 50%.

The Venn diagram shows the number of students studying different science subjects, namely Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. There is a total of 18 students in the diagram.

Biology: 5 students

Physics: 1 student

Chemistry: 9 students

Biology and Physics: 3 students

Biology and Chemistry: 4 students

Physics and Chemistry: 8 students

All three subjects: 4 students

To find the probability that a student, chosen at random, studies Biology or Physics or both, we need to add the number of students in each of these categories and divide by the total number of students.

Probability: (5 + 1 + 3) / 18 = 9 / 18 = 0.5 or 50%
