Final answer:

Lin arrives at the library at 4:15 PM and Gina arrives at 4:18 PM.

Step-by-step explanation:

Lin walks 13 miles in 5 hours, so his rate is 13 miles / 5 hours = 2.6 miles per hour.

Gina walks 25 miles in 10 hours, so her rate is 25 miles / 10 hours = 2.5 miles per hour.

They each walk 3 1/4 miles to the library, which takes them:

  1. Lin: 3.25 miles / 2.6 miles per hour = 1.25 hours
  2. Gina: 3.25 miles / 2.5 miles per hour = 1.3 hours

They both leave school at 3 o'clock, so to find out what time they each arrive at the library, we add their walking times to their departure times:

  1. Lin: 3 o'clock + 1.25 hours = 4:15 PM
  2. Gina: 3 o'clock + 1.3 hours = 4:18 PM
