Answer:

There were 257 children and 365 adults at the public pool.

Explanation:

Let the number of children and adult be x and y respectively,

x+y = 622

1.5x+2y = 1115

Now,

x+y = 622

or, x = 622 - y

Now,

1.5x + 2y= 1115

or, 1.5(622-y) + 2y = 1115

or, 933 - 1.5y + 2y = 1115

or, 933 + 0.5y = 1115

or, 0.5y = 1115-933

or, 0.5y = 182

so, y = 182/0.5

so, y = 365

Now,

x+y = 622

or, x + 365 = 622

so, x = 257
