Difference between Internal & External Motivation, & my perspective on that.

Step-by-step explanation:

Motivation is a process which initiates, guides, maintains goal oriented actions. Internal motivation comes from within without any external aspect. External motivation comes from urge of getting a reward or avoiding a punishment.

Eg : A student completing homework on time due to self values of punctuality reflects internal motivation. A student completing homework on time for getting best student's reward (praise) or avoid teacher's punishment is external motivation.

I think I am more externally motivated. I work better when I have external guidelines, rather than based on myself. However internal motivation is crucial for growing in life, so I am working hard to enhance internal motivation in myself. Eg : By reading motivational books
