Answer: domain: R, range: (-inf, -4] U {-3} U [2, inf)

Explanation:

You can plug in any number for x and get a corresponding y value, so the domain is all real numbers (written R).


The range is all of the y-values that are possible to get. You can get anything less than or equal to -4 from the first function, then it jumps up to -3 for a while, then it jumps up to anything >= 2.

So the range is (-inf, -4] U {-3} U [2, inf).
