I am thinking of two numbers.

They have a difference of 2.
The sum of the two numbers is 14.
What is the product of the two numbers I am thinking of?

Explanation:

Let x and y be the 2 numbers, where x has a greater value than y.

We have x - y = 2 and x + y = 14. Adding the 2 equations up, we get 2x = 16, x = 8.

Then (8) + y = 14, y = 6.

Since the numbers are 8 and 6, the product is 48.
