rewrite the first equation as y = -2x+11
plug in this equation into the second equation
solve for x
x=6

plug x=6 into the first equation
solve for y
y=-1

THE ANSWER IS (6,-1)

you can also graph the two equations on desmos and the point where the two lines intersect is the answer

Answer: ( x,y ) = ( 96/43, 152/43 )

Explanation:

Answer: ( x,y ) = ( 96/43, 152/43 )

Explanation:

rewrite the expression

2x + y=8

11 1/2 x X - 5y=8

mixed fraction btw.

simplify

2x + y =8

23x - 10y = 16

multiply both sides

20x + 10y = 80

23x - 10y = 16

eliminate one variable by adding the equations

43x =96

divide both sides

x = 96/43

substitute the value of x

2 x 96/43 + y = 8

solve the equation

y = 152/43

a possible solution is

( x,y ) = ( 96/43, 152/43 )

check solution

simplify

8 = 8 = 8

the ordered paired is a solution!

final answer: ( x,y ) = ( 96/43, 152/43 )
