The Chinese Exclusion act was passed in 1882 the act stated that all immigration from China was to stop entirely due to too much immigration. This was to last for ten years only the law also required Chinese immigrants to carry paperwork proving they were U.S. citizens. How this act was passed was by congress who were responding to workers concerns of losing jobs to these immigrants.
