Answer:

After 8 weeks, both boys weigh same.

Explanation:

Forming the equation,

→ 200 - 2x = 160 + 3x

Now the value of x will be,

→ 200 - 2x = 160 + 3x

→ -2x - 3x = 160 - 200

→ -5x = -40

→ x = -40/-5

→ x = 40/5

→ [ x = 8 weeks ]

Hence, the value of x is 8.

Answer:

  • 8 weeks

Explanation:

Let the number of weeks be x after which both boys have same weight.

Mike's weight after x weeks:

  • 200 - 2x

Tom's weight after x weeks:

  • 160 + 3x

Equate both expressions and solve for x:

  • 200 - 2x = 160 + 3x
  • 3x + 2x = 200 - 160
  • 5x = 40
  • x = 8
