Shortest side: x = 17 centimeters

Third side: 2x = 34 centimeters

Longest side: 2x + 3 = 2(17) + 3 = 37 centimeters

Calculating The Sides Of A Triangle.

The longest side is 3 centimeters longer than twice the length of the shortest side, so its length is 2x + 3

The third side is twice as long as the shortest side, so its length is 2x.

The perimeter of the triangle is the sum of all three sides, which is x + (2x) + (2x + 3) = 88x

solve for x:

x + 2x + (2x + 3) = 88

Combine like terms:

5x + 3 = 88

Subtract 3 from both sides:

5x = 85

Divide by 5:

x = 17

Substitute x = 17 into the equation to find the length of each side:

Shortest side: x = 17 centimeters

Third side: 2x = 34 centimeters

Longest side: 2x + 3 = 2(17) + 3 = 37 centimeters
