Final answer:

Drastically reducing calorie intake and eliminating favorite foods, while not exercising, is unlikely to produce long-term weight loss success.

Step-by-step explanation:

The approach to weight loss described by the friend is unlikely to produce long-term success. While drastically reducing calorie intake may lead to initial weight loss, it can have negative effects on energy levels and metabolism. By eating only two small meals a day and eliminating favorite foods, the body may interpret this as a period of starvation, causing it to become more efficient and conserve energy. This can result in low energy levels and a decreased desire to exercise. Additionally, limiting caloric intake without incorporating exercise can limit the amount of weight lost and the length of time that weight loss is sustained.
