When you use the slope formula, does it matter what point you choose?

The choice of starting point or endpoint does not affect the slope when using the slope formula.

The slope of a straight line between two points can be calculated using the slope formula.

The slope formula is:

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

Where (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) are the coordinates of the two points.

It doesn't matter which point you choose as the starting point or the endpoint when using the slope formula.

As long as you substitute the correct coordinates into the formula, you will get the same slope.

For example, if you have the points (2, 4) and (5, 9), you can designate (2, 4) or (5, 9) as the starting point and the other as the endpoint.

The calculated slope will be the same.
