In my opinion, the smarter approach is President Woodrow Wilson's 14 Points. Wilson's approach was based on the idea of preventing future wars by addressing the underlying causes of conflict. His 14 Points focused on principles such as self-determination, freedom of the seas, and the creation of a League of Nations to mediate international disputes. This approach seemed like a better idea because it aimed to create a more stable and peaceful world order.

However, there were some aspects of Wilson's approach that needed improvement. The treaty that emerged from the Versailles negotiations did not fully reflect all of Wilson's 14 Points.

For example, the treatment of Germany in the treaty was harsh and punitive, which ultimately contributed to resentment and the start of another conflict.
