recall that the reciprocal of the slope will give us a perpendicular line with a sign change also.

then the slope m is:

and we are given the point P(x1,y1) = ( -1,1)

now use the point-slope formula to find the equation to the line in the slope intercept form.

y-y1 = m(x-x1)

plug in our given info.

y-1 = (-8)(x-(-1))

y-1 = -8(x+1)

y-1= -8x -8

y = -8x -8+1

y=-8x-7

there is your slope intercept form of the equation :)
